Except when bilateral conventions are such that a visa is not required, residence in all Schengen countries is contingent on obtaining and holding a valid a visa...

There are two types of Schengen visas :

• Short term visas which allow for three (3) month stays in a particular country;

• Long term visas that are good for longer than three months (see the professional, student section…)

  
  

Visa requests are made through the French consulate in the home country of the person requesting it.

Justification for requests can be private life, tourism, work, studies, humanitarian criteria, etc.

The granting of a visa is usually contingent on meeting certain financial conditions, as well as the guarantee of housing in France.

Should a visa be denied, the network’s lawyers first appeal the decision via the Visa Appeal Commission before appealing in Nantes’ Administrative Tribunal.
