Asylum

An asylum seeker is a person seeking protection for fear of being persecuted or exposed to a threat in his or her own country.  

Asylum request must be made in the Prefecture of the area in which the person is domiciled, or housed.

Sometimes, initial difficulties in obtaining residency permit include: getting priority treatment for the request, its application under the DUBLIN Regulations, refusal to pay subsidies during the waiting period, etc.  

Attorneys in this Network take charge of cases at this early stage, bringing them before Tribunal Administratif (Administrative Court) that can appeal against such decisions.

Next comes the OPFRA interview, during which the asylum seeker is able to tell his story.

At the request of asylum seekers, Network attorneys accompany and assist them during the OFPRA interview.

Should OFPRA reject a request, network attorneys prepare briefs, conduct pre-court appearance briefings, and are present in court at the Cour Nationale du Droit d’Asile (National Court for the Right to Asylum).
