In a global context marked by a resurgence of authoritarian regimes, the laws, societies, and policies of many countries are becoming increasingly hostile to minorities, particularly sexual minorities.
For more than 15 years, TERRAVOCATS has been supporting LGBTQ+ individuals in their dealings with institutions.
As we wrote in 2017, it is particularly in the field of asylum that TERRAVOCATS' lawyers have succeeded in securing recognition of these minorities' right to protection.
Since then, many decisions have been handed down in cases defended by the firm, confirming that it is impossible for those who do not obey the codes and conventions of patriarchy to live in peace in their country of origin.
The long list of states unable to protect their LGBTQ+ citizens (Guinea Conakry, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Mali, Mauritania, Bangladesh, Ukraine, and Albania) has been joined by Colombia, Cuba, and Angola, to name but a few.
But it is not only in the field of asylum that lawyers support their LGBTQ+ clients: visas, residence permits, nationality, change of civil status, divorce, arrangements for exercising parental authority, defense in the context of professional disputes, etc.
At every stage of life, there is a need for legal advice and assistance that is tailored to each individual's specific circumstances.
